Introducing SEO – Optimising Your Online Content

Though you might not believe it your website is the face of your business. Especially now as we live in an age where online shopping is beginning to compete with high street shopping. Therefore if you want your business success particularly in the digital world, then it is vitally important that your website can be found online! So how can you make this happen?

It’s time to introduce the term Search Engine Optimisation or SEO as you might know it. Search engine optimisation involves a set of strategies that can be applied to your website in order to promote healthy listings. You cannot expect the SEO of your website to take affect immediately, instead SEO involves a gradual process that when is done right will help boost your website listings.

The aim of SEO is to get your website to list on the first page of searches, ideally at the top of the page. These are the top spots and are what SEO specialists strive to attain. Think of it this way, we live in a fast paced environment where people often want the answers 10 minutes ago. People don’t have the time to carry out endless searches… a website that is listing on the first page of Google is much more likely to be clicked on than a website listings on the 5th, 6th, 7th and so on.

So what can you do to improve the SEO of your website?

Keyword Optimisation / Keyword Optimised Content

You should be aware of what your businesses keywords are. If you are not then you can ask your SEO specialist to carry out some research for you. Your keywords basically summarise what your business is about. For example here at WNW Digital we offer Digital Marketing Services and Web Design. Therefore some of our keywords include, social media management, seo, search engine optimisation, web design, digital marketing in Devon and so on. These keywords sum up the kinds of services that we provide. They are the phrases that we want to list for on Google. So when someone searches for one of these keywords mentioned above, Google will recognise that this is one of our keywords and will therefore determine that our website is relevant to the person’s search and will therefore list our website.

In order for Google to recognise that these are our keywords we need to ensure that these words and phrases are mentioned throughout the content on the website. Your SEO specialist will not only be able to help you determine what phrases you should be aiming to list for but will also be able to show you where you can implement these phrases throughout your website.

Regular content

This is another important factor that can contribute to your online listings. Google will want to see that your website is being kept up to date. Google wants to help users searching find the best websites that are relevant to their searches. Therefore it is important that you update the content on your website on a regular business. By doing this Google will be able to see that your website is kept up to date with fresh and useful content. You are basically telling Google what your website should be listing for, therefore it is a great idea to keep inserting your keywords and phrases within any content that you might upload. How your present this content is up to you. One of the most successful ways of providing new content on a regular basis and one that works wonders for the SEO of your website involves blogging. By doing this not only are you showing Google that you are a helpful website you are also positioning yourself as the expert in your industry as visitors to your website will see that you know what you are talking about and have the expertise. Therefore you will be helping getting your site listed in a good position and then hopefully closing the sale as visitors decide that they trust and want to invest in your business.

There are of course plenty of other SEO Strategies that you can be employing to promote those healthy listings. Keyword optimised content and regular content are just a couple of many. Keep an eye out for any further insights into other equally important SEO strategies over the coming weeks.
