There has been a whisper of advertising on Instagram in the past and this week that whisper seems to have emerged again. The popular image based social media marketing channel appears to be getting closer to launching its Instagram advertising platform.
The platform has been in testing over the past year by a selected group of brands/ accounts. According to the Instagram For Business blog the campaigns that have already been run have been very effective with “sponsored posts on Instagram being 2.9 higher than Nielsen’s norms for online advertising.”
With this success being noted by Instagram it seems that we can expect to see advertising options for small and large businesses that want to create highly targeted ads that have “action -oriented formats” whether this be driving website sales or raising brand awareness.
Instagram (recently bought by Facebook) have stated that their advertising platform which be based on the current highly successful Facebook advertising structure.
