Even the best bloggers will hit a brick wall from time to time, twiddling their thumbs or tapping aggressively at their keyboard when they can’t quite get their words out. Or worse still when they have no idea what their next blog entry is going to be about. Even with the help of those sites like the blog topic generator that let you type in 3 key words and then formulate a title for you, sometimes it just doesn’t cut it. So if you’re still struggling to conjure the perfect blogging topic I advise you keep reading. Here are some of tips that have helped me achieve the inspiration I needed to get me back on track to producing quality content that will hopefully help you to.
–Firstly, figure out how much quality content you can realistically produce. You need to be realistic; if you are struggling for topic inspiration then trying to blog every day is probably going to be a huge challenge that will likely cause you a lot of stress. Perhaps take the pressure off and aim to write one quality blog post every week instead. Stick to this structure and allocate yourself a specific amount of time each week. Within this time that you have set aside make sure you allocate some time to doing some research. Have a read of other people’s blog entries, see what their talking about, even if you know what you are going to blog about doing some research first might provide you with that extra bit of information that will give your blog entry that extra star studded sparkle. If you are still struggling to produce one blog entry per week perhaps ask around the office and see if anyone else can give you a help in hand.
–Only write about things you are passionate about. You need to become an expert in your topic. Your readers will be able to tell if you don’t really know what you are on about and will almost definitely lose interest. If you are writing about topics that you are interested in you will probably be able to write your blog entries fairly easily as your passion will definitely be displayed in the quality content that you will be producing.
–Only write about content your readers are interested in. Yes lots of blog content is good and is useful for assisting with your listings in search engines, but there really is no point in producing content that is unlikely going to be useful to your readers. If it not useful then your readers will only lose interest and then you will be wasting even more time producing content that is not being read. If you are producing quality content that is relevant to your readers it is likely that they will value your expertise and keep returning to your blog.
Top Tip: If you are blogging on a particular topic do some research into FAQ’s that are associated with the topic. This can give you some great inspiration for producing quality content that you know your readers will find useful. Be as creative as you like and produce blog entries that can answer these questions.
Bonus Tip – Our MD Nigel Wilkinson believes the best thing you can do when you have writers block is to get as much as you can down on paper. Just focus on getting some words down on the page. Once you have done this you can go back and edit / change its content.
