Polyvore is becoming a widespread social commerce website that allows you to make image collages as you shop for the things you love to buy. From clothing to jewellery, beauty products to furniture, home decor to rugs, Polyvore’s variety of pieces will leave you with a substantial wish list. If you run an ecommerce shop this is one of the major Social Media channels where you will find your customers, and you should be using it.
Making a Polyvore account is simple; you can register using your email or log in using your Facebook or Twitter accounts. Polyvore will then ask you to choose a category that you “would most like to see”. For me as a big lover of clothes I chose fashion, however if you don’t want to select a specific topic you can pick “choose everything”.
Polyvore then allows you to find your friends by linking your Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Once you have done this you are free to fully throw yourself (and probably a lot of your time) into Polyvore.
You can shop for individual items by searching in the top right hand bar. Polyvore lists most products from high street brands and is polite enough to introduce you to those products and brands that you might not otherwise have heard of!
You can “explore” collages that other people have put together. For example designing a room is a popular feature on Polyvore. The creator chooses what sofa, desk, shelf etc. they would put in their room and collates them all in one image. If you like what you see in the image, Polyvore creates an image list of all the items used in the collage which you can then click on to buy.
In addition to this Polyvore has left room for a social feed allowing you to follow other people and like or comment on their collages. You can then post these collages in your blog or share them on social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
The real fun begins when you start to create your very own collage. You are only limited by your own imagination. You simply have to search for the product you are interested in and drag it into the dedicated space. You can add as little or as many products as you like. You can get really creative not only with the images that you drag into the collage but you if you can also add a back ground, add an effect, insert some text, add a border or insert a magazine article. The possibilities seem endless.
As more and more individuals and potential customers appear to be using Polyvore, it seems vital that businesses also join in as Polyvore is a great social commerce platform that can be used to sell your goods to your target audience. Polyvore really has given you the freedom to create the most imaginative and beautiful collages! I predict that Polyvore is going to take off in 2014, adding to the ever growing list of social sites that we now happily spend so much of our time on. Are you sold on Polyvore?
