The internet has become a competitive market place for selling your products / services and therefore it is important that your online business is pro-active in making sure your web design is effective. There are certain things that you can add to your web design in order for your website to stand the best chance of success. For the purpose of this blog entry I will address the fundamental influence and positive impact that including testimonials in your web design can have.
Firstly you might be thinking what is a testimonial? A testimonial is usually a written or recorded piece of information a direct quote/ statement of what someone says about your business and the services that you provide. It should be a true reflection and should not be altered in any way.
People will look for reassurance as to why they should invest in your product / services over an alternative business offering a similar if not symmetrical product. By including testimonials on your website you are able to provide a form of social proof that displays to your prospective customers that you are a credible business.
So why include testimonials?
- Valuable feedback provokes confidence in your business
- Encourage peoples to buy your products / invest in your services
- Acts as a replacement for a word of mouth recommendation
- Help your business come across as valuable, reliable, reputable
- Can act as a powerful sales tool
- Provides assurance and helps build trust between a business and customer
You should place your testimonials in a good position on your web design so that people can see them easily. You will find that some websites will have a page entirely dedicated for testimonials whereas others might feature a select few testimonials on their homepage. So be sure to place your testimonials in a place in which they can be easily viewed/ accessed by those viewing your website.
Top tip – Where possible why not include an image of the person / business providing the testimonial.
