What should your business be doing on social media?

As you are probably now aware… your business cannot afford to be avoiding social media! Social media has become an integral platform to marketing and many businesses who are using social media as part of their marketing strategies are beginning to see online business success. In this blog entry we give a brief account of what your business should be doing on social media to help drive sales, build brand awareness and attract new prospects.

Update your profile – Make sure you fill in all relevant information about your business. For example, Facebook and Twitter will ask you to write an about section. Fill this in! This information will provide your customers with a little bit more information about what your business sells. You should also fill in information like your contact number and website if applicable, so that people customers are able to contact you with ease.

Set a profile picture and cover photo – Make sure you choose a profile picture that reflects who and what your business is! Do you have a logo? If so why not use this? You should also set a relevant cover photo. Your cover photo provides you with the opportunity to use a striking image and really attract attention. For example, if you are running a flooring business you might want to upload a picture of a new flooring that has just been inserted in a property.  For an even greater effect you could show what this room looks like now that has been transformed back to its habitable state.

Update your account on a regular business – Post relevant content on your social media profiles at least 2-3 times a week. Let people know of any new stock you have, do you have a new meal on your menu? Are you looking for a new staff member? Social media is really adaptable and you can use it to suit your business needs. Make use of this opportunity and make your business known through regular updates.

Share other posts/content – Remember its not just all about what you have to promote or sell, you should also look for other relevant things in your industry and share this too. This will help you position yourself as an industry expert and show others that you have a genuine interest in the type of industry that your business is in.

Connect with other social accounts – Start making those social connections with other social media accounts. This doesn’t mean go an follow or like every page that you can find. Make sure that you are liking and making social connections that are relevant! Are they your target audience? Do they share relevant industry news?

Advertise, Advertise, Advertise – Make use of social media advertising platforms, this is a great cost effective form of marketing, allowing you to get your content in front of the right people at the right time.
