How to Manage Your Business over the Christmas Season

The festive period is a time to relax with your friends and family and to put work to the back of your mind for a few days. If you close your business over Christmas and New Year then it is essential that you take the necessary steps to ensure that you can enjoy it to its full potential and leave the stress of work in the office.

Below we have listed 5 tips to help you manage your business over the Christmas season:

  1. Publish Your Opening Hours

Posting your Christmas opening hours on your website and social media platforms will let your clients know when you will and won’t be available to attend to any queries they may have. This way there can be no confusion as to why you might not be getting back to someone!

  1. Set an Auto-Responder

Setting an auto-responder on your office email accounts is also a great way of reminding people that you are out of the office over the Christmas period. This is a particularly good idea if anyone does not check your website to look at your opening hours, as they will be made aware of any changes via the auto-responder.

  1. Emergency Support

If for any reason your clients may need an emergency support line, be sure to provide an email address that can be checked regularly over the festive period, or even a phone number for more urgent matters. Having an emergency contact whilst the office is closed will reassure your clients and make them feel confident that support is available should they have an issue.

  1. Social Media Management

Scheduling your posts on social media over the Christmas period is an excellent way to keep your followers updated without having to take time out of your Christmas plans to post anything. You can schedule your usual content or even just wish your followers well for the festivities.

Monitoring your social media platforms during this time is important also and does not take too long to do – if you schedule your posts then this bit should take a matter of minutes! Maintaining some engagement with your followers over the Christmas break will ensure they are happy and up to date.

  1. Don’t Forget to Reset

As important as it is to make the changes for the festive period, changing everything back could actually be more so. It is essential to make all the relevant changes to your website and social media platforms after you have returned to regular working hours. It is very off-putting to see Christmas information in the middle of January!
