Is your traffic growing? Find out how to grow your traffic and your business

According to Tech Crunch, there are about 2.6 billion smart phones globally right now, and it’s estimated that by 2020 there will be over 6 billion. The massive increase in smart phone devices has given a huge number of people access to the internet, even for those who would otherwise not really use it.


As the number of daily internet users increases, you might notice more traffic on your website, but as the number of internet users increases, so does the number of websites. As a result of this, you are now competing for visitors with a number of other websites and you need to work out how to use your digital marketing to drive traffic to your site.

Why do you want more traffic?

The more traffic on your site, the more likely you are to generate sales and enquiries. With a basic sales funnel, it could take 100 visitors to make 1 sale, so you’d need 1,000 visitors to make 10 sales. Finding ways of bringing in that traffic will allow you to increase your online sales.

How to bring in more traffic

The increase in daily online users is an excellent opportunity for your business to tap in to, and there are ways in which you can maximise it:

Be in the right place at the right time

You need to know your target audience through and through so that you can establish what platforms they like to use, and then you can be there. If you position and promote your business across the right platforms, you will be able to get relevant exposure and generate traffic to your website as a result.

Be mobile responsive

With Google taking a mobile-first approach to their search listings, you need to ensure your website is mobile responsive to stand a chance of listing on the first page. Having a mobile site as well as a desktop site would also work from an SEO perspective, but then you end up having two sites you need to update and adjust frequently, which can be avoided.

Be accessible

Your website should be entirely accessible to your visitors – this includes site load-time, navigation and copy. If your site is slow to load, or doesn’t load at all, it will put people off and they will go elsewhere. It will also mean that Google will rank you lower down in their search listings. To avoid this, you need to ensure that your website is on fast-loading servers that are reliable and secure.

For content and navigation, you need to ensure that your website is clearly laid out and easy to move around. Keeping your copy simple will also help generate conversions as people like things to be clear and not too lengthy.

Have effective calls to action

Once you have increased traffic on your website, you need to convert them into paying customers. To do this, you need to have clear calls to action positioned in pivotal places on your site.
