So, making a success out of your own internet business has turned out to be a lot tougher than you hoped. Boy, have a lot of us been there! You keep working harder and putting in more effort, but you can’t gain any momentum. Take it from me, the solution you’re looking for isn’t more, it’s less. Let me explain.
My Early Beginnings
When I began affiliate marketing back in 1999, the convention of the time was build as many sites as you possibly can, and fill them with a ton of content. You don’t have to tell me how much work that takes, I know! At one point I had nearly ninety sites running. I wish I had known then, what I know now. I’d have done things a lot differently.
Fortunately for me, I had done this at a time when the internet was still like the wild, wild, west and I was able to develop a steady stream of income, despite my mistakes. I could have made it a lot easier on myself, however if I had known the wisdom I’m passing on to you.
How Things have Changed
The internet today is a whole different world than it was thirteen years ago. Competition isn’t scarce anymore; in fact there is tons of it. Consumers today flock to the internet like our grandparents had gone to the yellow pages. All they have to do is click search and they immediately receive relevant content, and lots of it.
So why would you want to throw handfuls of sites into the mix. Consumers aren’t looking for more and more sites, they’ve got that. What they’re looking for is the one site that is better than all the rest, and when they find it, they know it, and they recommend it to all their friends.
A Singular Chain Reaction
So forget that old theory that more is better. Focus on just one single site, and make it the best it can be, and then watch your business grow.
Imagine what will happen when you’re able to dedicate all your content and expertise onto one site. How much more valuable would that be to your audience?
Now direct all your backlinks and Google organic searches to that one site, along with all your promotions from Facebook and Twitter. How much more quickly will your audience grow?
How much more traffic will you have, and how many sales? How many email signups, how much usable information on your audience’s habits and preferences?
As your business grows, you’ll be able to influence merchants more effectively because of increased sales. In all likelihood you’ll receive more help in promoting their products.
As your site increases in sales, you can consider selling off your other sites either to fund growth or simply to invest.
See how quickly you can maximize all the effects you want for your business by focusing all your efforts to one purpose, instead of diluting them across many.
Helpful Tools of the Trade
We live in the information age where technology rules. Be sure you are using the resources and tools available to you to maximize your advantage.
Don’t waste your time and money commuting and going on business trips. Handle all your meetings and networking from the convenience of your own home. If you wondering how does video conferencing work, it’s easy to learn and there are many companies that will help you. Once you try it, you’ll never go back.
There are great technologies you can use to analyze your traffic and email lists then segment them based on behavior and laser target them for products of interest. The more volume you get, the better this tool can help you.
Create an area of your home strictly devoted to your work, without any distractions or clutter. There are good corner computer desks for home that don’t take up a lot of space, and allow you to keep everything organized and within easy reach.
Use webinars to increase education and product knowledge. Use smart phones to access everything you need on the go. These products are designed by people by who know what you want and need to make your business grow.
My Single Best Advice
So that’s what it took me twelve years to learn. Turn all your energies to one site and you’ll turn your business around. I believe it’s the most efficient and most sustainable way to earn a full time living. The world is at your fingertips. Make your dreams come alive with focus and singleness of purpose.
