Creating A Google Maps Listing To Boost Your SEO

It is important that Google is aware of your businesses physical location as this can help with your search engine listings and is vitally important for local SEO.

Map listings are now displayed at the top of many search results that take place on Google. Therefore having a map listing is crucial if you want your business to get noticed. For example if someone searches for a keyword followed by a location the top results displayed will be map results as shown in the screen shot below.

You will need to set up a Google account in order to be able to create a maps listing. This will require you to input basic company information such as your business name, address, contact details and so on. To complete your listing you will have to verify your business, initially by telephone and then by post. This could take up to a few weeks to complete. However whilst you are waiting for your verification postcard you can update your Google account business listing where you can add photos, your website URL etc so that your maps listing is ready for when verification is complete.
