For the first time, Instagram have topped Twitter according to a survey that determines the most popular platform for social media advertisements and campaigns.
Nearly two thirds of people chose the picture based social media as their platform of choice, compared to Twitter receiving just over half of the votes.
Facebook still dominates the social media advertising popularity scales (which is no surprise) with over 3 million active advertisers using Facebook.
However, it’s reported that Instagram – which are owned by Facebook – now have over 200,000 advertisers compared to Twitter which has fallen to 130,000. This rings alarm bells for Twitter as the increasing growing power of Instagram (a platform that doubled it’s users in two years to 500 million) is starting to take it’s toll on rivals Twitter.
With Facebook advertisements, customers can now link their Instagram accounts to their advertising campaign for no extra cost which gives more reasons for users to vote in favor of Facebook owned social media platform ahead of Twitter.
