I don’t know about you, but I get really annoyed with Twitter’s 140 character limit because whatever I have to say usually takes more than the 140 limit, however at the same time I love Twitter limit because people’s tweets are usually concise and straight to the point.
This is why I believe, the news that the social media giants are going to remove website URLs and images from the tweeting character limit, is great! When you’re trying to include a link and an image along with text, things can getting pretty cramped, so now that we are set to have some breathing space, it’s going to be easier to get the most out of our tweets.
At the moment, adding a shortened link to a tweet takes up 23 characters, which is quite a lot especially if you’re trying to sell a product or updating your followers on important information.
As I manage some of our clients’ social media campaigns, it’s going to be a lot easier for me to get more information into twitter when it comes to selling products, because now not only can I include images and the website link for no characters, it’s going to allow me to include more product information which will ultimately benefit the user who is seeing the tweet.
